Editorial Review

They say you'll never meet your true love in a bar, you'll meet them at the grocery store. I'm not really sure who 'they' are, but 'they' must shop at the Whole Foods in Union Square. Mixed in among the sea of fresh produce and organic products are enough toned, fit, and attractive Miss and Mr. Rights to field a new reality television show. We'll call it, 'Jogging Partners'. It's sure to replace The Bachelorette as the next guilty pleasure.

But there's no guilt in shopping at the newly opened Whole Foods in Union Square. Despite their growth and expansion to locations around the globe, they've managed to maintain the same passionate small-market philosophy that made them so great. They feature a large selection of organic foods and others that are free of preservatives, artificial flavors, colors, and sweeteners. Whole Foods does an excellent job of providing a healthy inventory with minimal processing and chemicals. If you're looking for a Zen meal, or just some fruits and veggies—options abound.

Whole Foods Market also sells prepared food that smells so good, it's difficult to finish your shopping. Take food on the run, or sit and people-watch. There is a small, comfy seating area, but if you're hoping for a quiet meal, seating is adjacent to the store, so the whole area is rather hectic. If you really want a quiet meal, you might consider moving to Wyoming, it's beautiful and quiet—unfortunately no Whole Foods in the Cowboy State, just an unhealthy helping of Dick Cheney. I have to admit, though, I love the hustle and bustle—or at least watching it from behind my lunch. I don't know if I'm ready to forgo my Friday night plans for a trip to Whole Foods, but I'm seriously considering making it an after-work stop from now on.
