	Herbal Breast Enhancement: Questions A recent article in the journal Obstetrics & Gynecology (2003;101:1345-1349) warned women taking “bust-enhancing” herbal products with ingredients such as hops, black cohosh, dong quai, fennel, kava, saw palmetto, chaste-tree berry and many others, that these herbs have never been proven to work for breast-enhancement and may actually have long-term negative health effects. Some Questions: How many women looking for bigger breasts actually read Obstetrics & Gynecology? How many doctors read the journal and then warned their patients about these supplements? Who is to say that getting silicon breast implants isn’t safer and more satisfying for the patient than spending $100 a month on herbs with no safety data or proven effectiveness? Should primary care physicians be able to advise their patients who want bigger breasts on the risks and benefits of each of those actions, or does talk of breast enhancement fall outside of their role as a primary care physician?
